Janet cycles on, steady in her resolve to beat last year's effort and this year, successfully cross the finish line. Whether she's first or second are farther down on the list for her. She's riding her race, getting ready for West Virginia.

Yesterday Janet followed a thunderstorm into Blanchester, and as Bill Osborn, the crew chief reported, "rode well despite the crazy heat and humidity". As Bill rode up course last night after his shift the sky was dumping lightning all around, and it was clear that Janet was heading into some bad weather. True to the crew predictions, she was caught by a severe thunderstorm, and stayed on the bike until pea size hail began falling. Bill and the crew helped her get to sleep early, rather early and safe, than push on in conditions that could end the race early.

Janet was up early today and is picking up the pace, getting ready for the leg numbing climbs of West Virginia. Stay tuned for pictures, as Bill reports that Janet has a surprise in store for everyone as she hits the West Virginia hills!

At the time of this post the Live GPS Trackingtracking shows Janet is east of Athens, heading to the time station in Ellenboro. Daniela hit time station 44 in Ellenboro, WV at 2:16pm eastern, so the gap has widened with last night's storm. Janet's riding her race, and as we saw in the west, she's a machine on tackling the hills. There's plenty of race to see whether her personal goals take her to a win.
